Santiago, Chile, October 25 2018 – The Silverfern Group, an investment management firm making direct investments in middle market private equity, US CRE private debt and real estate globally, today announced that it has partnered with Arroyo Energy Investment Partners in the acquisition of certain wind and solar renewable power assets in Chile (the “Chilean Power Assets”).
The Chilean Power Assets include the El Arrayan Wind (“El Arrayan”) and Conejo Solar (“Conejo”) projects. El Arrayan is an operating 115 MW wind farm located in the Coquimbo region of Chile, and Conejo is an operating 104 MWac PV solar farm located in the Antofagasta region of Chile, both of which sell power to Chilean industrial customers under long term PPAs.
“We are excited to partner with Arroyo in the acquisition of two recently completed, strategically important renewable energy projects under long-term PPAs with an attractive, creditworthy counterparty in what we believe is a low-risk jurisdiction” said Silverfern Managing Director Edward Rimland. “At a time of perceived increases in investment return volatility, the opportunity to add potentially private equity-like returns via the acquisition of a lower-risk, strategically important infrastructure asset is attractive to us.”
Silverfern Managing Partner Clive Holmes added, “The Chilean Power Assets acquisition – our second partnership with Arroyo after our October 2016 acquisition of Broad River in North America together – further demonstrates Silverfern’s effectiveness as a local investor, as we continue to invest on a global basis. Continuing to deliver on our unique co-control investment strategy, Arroyo again represents an experienced, high-quality investment partner with significant domain expertise and experienced local representation through its operations in Santiago.”
